When people inquire about the microblading process, the first thing that they want to know is what makes it so different from permanent makeup. This is, afterall, one of the most common misconceptions of microblading, that it’s a permanent procedure.
While microblading does provide longer results than your standard makeup, it is not, in fact, a permanent makeup solution for filling your eyebrows. In fact, there are a few key differences between these two types of eyebrow solutions and we wanted to take time today to go over them. So, grab a cup of coffee (or wine) and check out a few of the primary differences between these two different procedures.
Permanence
The first thing that we want to start out talking about is permanence. Neither permanent makeup nor microblading are fully permanent solutions to filling eyebrows. With that being said, one of these solutions will last longer than the other. Microneedling, while it does last for quite some time, is not going to last nearly as long as permanent makeup will.
On average, the microblading procedure will provide individuals with a gorgeous shaped brow with a fuller appearance for roughly six months. Now, that is a pretty incredible amount of time when you look at the process and how natural the results are. Permanent makeup, on the other hand, can last for upwards of three years. When it comes to the amount of time that the solution will last, the two are night and day.
Areas of Application
Now, for the purpose of this blog we are solely talking about eyebrows, but the various areas of application that you’re able to have these procedures done is one of the reasons that they are so different. Microblading is a procedure that is only used on eyebrows while permanent makeup is something that can be done on your lips, eyes, and brows.
If you’re looking for a treatment to use on your eyebrows, this factor may not matter, but it is one of the distinguishing differences that separates the two.
Tools Used
These two procedures are very different from one another, but the primary reason that is the case is because the tools that are used are very different. Permanent makeup is applied by using an electrically powered machine that is very similar to a tattoo gun. The microblading procedure, still able to provide longer term results, uses a tool that is similar in appearance to an exacto knife. This tool doesn’t need any electricity to function and is able to mimic the look of a natural hair.
The tools that are used contribute to the amount of time that the procedure lasts, but they are also the reason that the end results of each procedure look so different from one another.
